Lunar New Year at Parliament House of Australia, Canberra

The Australia China Parliamentary Group led by Andrew Leigh MP & Philip Ruddock MP and Poliversity will be co-hosting the 2016 Parliament of Australia Lunar New Year celebration on Tuesday 9 February 2016 at Parliament House in Canberra.

Since the successful migration of Chinese, Vietnamese, Malaysian, Korean, Singaporean and Cambodian communities to Australia, Lunar New Year has been an important celebration in Australia’s annual multicultural calendar. The celebration of this important cultural festival at the Parliament of Australia demonstrates the Parliament of Australia’s goal to recognise the important contribution of Asian-Australians to Australia’s cultural diversity and multicultural society.

Join multicultural community leaders from across Australia, MPs, Senators and special guests to celebrate Lunar New Year and the Year of the Monkey. Celebrations will begin with presentations and New Year greetings from parliamentary representatives followed by sharing red colour paper-cuts, lantern offerings, Chinese poetry, a traditional lion dance performance and networking opportunities.

Please RSVP as soon as possible as tickets are limited. We are looking forward to welcoming you to the Parliament of Australia to welcome the Year of the Monkey!
